Kids and Thanksgiving and the challenge of Covid-19 (as seen by the local broadcast news media)

“You could cook a beautiful Thanksgiving dinner.
But would your young kids really just prefer to eat Chick-fil-A?”

This is a question posted by a local news staffer that appeared on one of the organization’s Facebook pages today. It is typical of the kind of stuff we see posted by the local media outlets here in RVA during this time of world wide crisis. Kids and Thanksgiving present quite the challenge with Covid-19 raging around the country.

It caught the eye of the Voice of RVA because it is a query that raises some very profound issues at this time of crisis in #RVA and the world at large.

Most of the responses to this query were predictable and were centered on the relative value of fast food meals versus home cooked dinners in the eyes of the children.

But one response caught the ear of the Voice of RVA and is worth exploring.

Check it out.

“It depends on how the kids are raised and how stressful meals at home are, not to mention Family Dynamics.

Thanksgiving dinner is going to be especially stressful this year what with all the political division in families and the possibility that covid-19 may strike the elderly attendees after the meal, causing a lot of guilt and trauma to the children should things go sideways for the older people.

A Come to Jesus meeting with the children before the meal would provide an opportunity to discuss all these issues and prepare the children to cope with what may not be a pleasant situation.”

There is certainly food for thought there.
Given the dangers represented by Covid-19 and the refusal of Donald J Trump to accept rejection at the hands of the American people, reasonable people certainly will not be approaching this holiday season with the same happy go lucky spirit that has been the order of the day in past, less complicated times.

We should also point out that Chick-fil-A will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, so that is not a realistic option”

All in all, an excellent observation, and one much appreciated by those of us here at the Voice of RVA. This certainly Food for Thought.

Pet Owners skewered for financial irresponsibility by local media

There is no question a lot of people do find themselves in a financial trap trying to meet their responsibilities to their pets but they should not be criticized for that.

The fact is some people are just more humane and compassionate than others and more willing to sacrifice their own financial security on behalf of others, both human and animal.

The REAL problem is those people in the veterinary industry whose charges are far out of proportion to the services rendered.

And there is a predatory element in the veterinary industry.
In many cases clients are encouraged to pursue expensive treatments for an animal that has no realistic chance of survival.

Not only does this deplete the bank account of the pet owner but it causes the animal unnecessary suffering.

What we REALLY need to start doing, rather than attacking pet owners for their compassion, is promoting changes in the industry that allow for comparison shopping between veterinarians such as the mandated posting of the cost of the provided services.

And it looks like he is going to win even though the majority of Richmonders will vote against him.

The problem is there’s just too many damn candidates who are going to split the anti Stoney vote and any vote that is not for Kim Gray is in effect a vote for Levar Stoney

The Flaggers are Wrong! White Racism clearly was the foundation of the Confederate States of America

RVA News outlets are all a buzz with the fact that the Robert E Lee Monument is coming down and one flagger is saying on Facebook that there is no mention of “white supremacy” in the Constitution of the Confederate States of America.

That all depends upon your point of view.

Reasonable people would agree that the problem the young man has is that any unbiased study of the Constitution of the Confederate States of America makes it very clear that the advocacy of white supremacy was the primary goal and motivation for the southern treason against the peoples of the United States of America

Any reasonable person who routinely follows RVA News would agree it is not relevant if that specific term was used or not. After all “a rose by any other name is still a rose”, and a pile of s* by any other name is still a pile of s*.

The fact is the Constitution of the Confederate States of America meets all of the requirements of a document promoting the concept of white supremacy as commonly defined.

“White supremacy or white supremacism is the belief that white people are superior to those of other races and thus should dominate them. White supremacy has roots in the now-discredited doctrine of scientific racism and often relies on pseudoscientific arguments, and was a key justification for colonialism. It underlies a spectrum of contemporary movements including neo-Confederates, neo-Nazism and Christian Identity.”

Whether they called themselves such or not, the southern traitors were by any reasonable definition “white supremacists” and it is a total fabrication to claim the constitution adopted by the southern racists was not in fact a document designed to advocate for and celebrate the concept of white supremacism.

Leave us remind the reader of the relevant articles FROM that document to which the youngster refers.

“(3) No slave or other person held to service or labor in any State or Territory of the Confederate States, under the laws thereof, escaping or lawfully carried into another, shall, in consequence of any law or regulation therein, be discharged from such service or labor; but shall be delivered up on claim of the party to whom such slave belongs,. or to whom such service or labor may be due.”

“Sec. 2. (I) The citizens of each State shall be entitled to all the privileges and immunities of citizens in the several States; and shall have the right of transit and sojourn in any State of this Confederacy, with their slaves and other property; and the right of property in said slaves shall not be thereby impaired.”

“(3) The Confederate States may acquire new territory; and Congress shall have power to legislate and provide governments for the inhabitants of all territory belonging to the Confederate States, lying without the limits of the several Sates; and may permit them, at such times, and in such manner as it may by law provide, to form States to be admitted into the Confederacy. In all such territory the institution of negro slavery, as it now exists in the Confederate States, shall be recognized and protected be Congress and by the Territorial government; and the inhabitants of the several Confederate States and Territories shall have the right to take to such Territory any slaves lawfully held by them in any of the States or Territories of the Confederate States.”

China Attacks, Chaos at the Polls, Red Menace Rules Electorate

Donald J Trump’s bid for a second bite at the Apple will end on the 3rd of November, 2020 but the controversy will continue for weeks if not months to come.

Security experts tell us is that Foreign States are engaged in a full court press to destroy the credibility of the American electoral system.

Chief among those bad actors, according to those who know, are the Chinese who are alleged to have launched a very sophisticated and effective multi-point attack on voters in the United States of America.

Word on the street is that this attack by the Chinese, unlike that of the Russians, is being carried out for the benefit of Joe Biden and not Putin’s lap dog in the guise of Donald J Trump.

Other credible experts tell us that is speculation without foundation. The true goal of the Chinese, they say, is the total destruction of faith in the American system and not to facilitate the election of any particular candidate

There is evidence today that the China efforts, along with the efforts of their Russian counterparts, are going to be extraordinarily successful in 2020.

And sad to say it won’t just be the Chinese and Russians who will have destroyed American’s faith in their own electoral process.

These bad actors from foreign shores can depend on an assist from native born homegrown political extremists like the newly appointed Supreme Court Justice, Amy Coney Barrett.

Persuasive political prognosticators are speculating that this election can very well end up being decided by the Supreme Court of the United States of America… not by the will of the electorate.

If that happens, they say, the people of America can be all but assured that a Justice like Amy Coney Barrett will step up to the plate in defense of her man and hand Donald J Trump a second bite at the Apple regardless of the will of the people and the outcome of the vote.

These are perilous times to say the least, and you can depend on RVA Confidential to keep on top of this breaking situation and continue our long tradition of telling it like it is.

While there is no question that Amy Coney Barrett is the lapdog of Donald J Trump and a Tool of the Pope, there is no power on Earth that can stop her confirmation today.

The Liberals in Richmond Virginia and around the world need to accept the fact that they can kiss their healthcare goodbye, that the gay community is going to lose all rights, and any woman who wants a safe and legal abortion better get it now because those days when a woman has control over her own reproductive health are numbered.

And the liberal community can forget electing a Democratic President next week with Amy Coney Barrett on the bench

Regardless of the Will of the Voter, it is clear to those of us here at RVA Confidential Amy Barrett is going to insure that Donald J Trump is going to get a second bite at the Apple and another four years in the Oval Office.

If liberals have an issue with that they should have thought about it in 2016 when the Bernie bots and many members of young black community threw their little election day hissy fit and didn’t show up at the polls (OR in some cases actually voted for Donald J Trump).

And reasonable people would agree that we should not let Ruth Bader Ginsberg off the hook either

If RGB had not stayed too long at the party ACB wouldn’t have had a chance in hell of sitting on the Supreme Court of the United States of America.

The liberal community was warned of the ramifications of pursuing their little hissy fits in 2016 but they didn’t listen and now all decent and true Americans will have to face the consequences.
